About the North American School
NASIG is an in-depth capacity building event that focused on teaching the development and application of the shared principles, norms, rules, policies, decision-making procedures and organizations that shape the evolution and use of the Internet. Additionally, NASIG sought to empower the next generation of Internet leaders.
NASIG 2019 is going to be held in Montreal, Canada on October 31 & November 1, 2019 followed by the celebration of ICANN 66 Public Forum meeting and ATLAS III (At-Large Summit III). A student group of 50 attendees is expected.
The curriculum was set-up following NASIG 2019 slogan: Building an Inclusive Internet.
The Second North American School of Internet Governance follows a similar approach to other Schools of Internet Governance which focuses on the key pillars of the Internet Governance as detailed by the Diplo Foundation. The five pillars are economic, political, political, civil society and legal which make up the various stakeholder positions on Internet issues and concerns. The two day programme aims to draw upon the experts in the Internet Governance milieu and provide intellectual stimulation to the international student body.
